FAQ's

You have finally made the decision to take some dance classes, but you're not sure what happens or what to wear? So many questions.....good job we have all the answers!

01

What do I wear?

Wear comfortable clothes that are easy to move about in. Layers are also a good idea as it can get very hot. Shoes that are non stick are best. Lindy Hop and Swing Dancing has turns and swivels, so wearing shoes with a lot of grip can be rather bad for your knees.

Ladies, flat shoes or pumps are usually the best. We know they look good, but high heels can be quite uncomfortable to dance in, and may even cause you, or someone else, to get injured.

Men, heavy boots or shoes with very rigid soles can be quite restrictive. Trainers that don't have much grip or canvas shoes are great for dancing in.

02

Do I need a partner?

You don't need to bring a partner, but we love it when you do. We rotate in our classes so that every one gets to dance. This way is also proven way to help dancers learn faster. Lindy Hop and Swing in general are social dance styles. Both are lead and follow dances, so it's best to dance with lots of people of different levels.  This means you'll also get to meet lots of lovely people.

03

What is the general age of everyone in class?

Actually, there isn't really a general age! We have students from 16 years of age, all the way to people in their 70's and beyond. Dancing not only keeps the body fit, but recent studies show that dancing also promotes positive mental health.......some studies even claim it makes you smarter! Click here for more info
